About
Hi there, my name is Myke Pickstock. I was born in the mid 70s and hail from the North West of England, however, I'm now living in West Berkshire where I work as an IT Consultant and live with my lovely wife Stevie and two children.
I'm currently working with Microsoft Server, Microsoft Azure and Infoblox, among other technologies, and love me a bit of scripting - mainly PowerShell these days.
Over the years my professional accreditations have included Azure, Citrix, Infoblox Core DDI and VMware.
In my spare time, I also like to play with other tech including:
Microsoft.NET
Raspberry Pi
HTML/CSS
Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP
Since getting a ZX Spectrum in my early teens, and later an Amiga, I had aspirations to create computer games. Back in the mid-2000s I wrote a game programming tutorial that featured in the UK's PC Format magazine, and later had one of my games published commercially.
Aside from that I've been involved in a number of other projects most of which are long dead, and a few that are just on a very slow simmer.
Ironically my most successful foray into games development has been for the comp.sys.sinclair Crap Games Competition - mainly centered around (crap) games written in ZX Spectrum BASIC - and which I proudly hosted back in 2014.
I also like to create artwork in a variety of styles - though largely retrogaming inspired, i.e.: isometric, 80s and 90s-style pixel art - whether that's on a computer, in paints, collage or hand-drawn (often via a tablet, these days.)
I have also written tools to programatically generate images, whether for games, websites, or work.
This website serves to document some of the output, work or hobby, technical or artistic, and I hope you enjoy some of the stuff I've done over the years.
By my reckoning this is the 6th major iteration* of MykeWEB and, if you'd like to find out more about the previous versions, check out this article.
* Fingers crossed - perhaps the first successful version, eh?
