ZX Pixel Evolution

Back in 2000, when MykeWEB was in it’s first incarnation and the domain mykeweb.co.uk had yet to be secured, there was a section of the site called UDG Games (forerunner to Demon Star) that was intended to be a brand-name for my long list of planned games. Of course, this was before I discovered the amount of work that went into pixelling and coding up such projects.

On the top of the site sat a banner that exclaimed; “Classic concepts. Back for the millennium and beyond.” Underneath, in one continuous wide row, were the following ZX Spectrum characters designed to show the progression of computer-game sprites from the Spectrum through to the mid-Amiga period. The row was split into four distinct sets; plain white-on-black, single colour, paletted and full coloured.
