AT 1,19; "THE DOWNLOAD COLLECTION"
'Download All' link added to the top of the page allowing you to download a .zip containing all of the entries in one go.
AT 1,18; "THE RESULTS ARE IN!"
That's right. I've finally announced the winners (and losers) of CSSCGC 2014!
AT 1,6; "FEATURE: THE BIG END-OF-YEAR FEATURE"
The much-hyped End-of-Year feature in which we look at some of the games that didn't make it into this year's competition.
AT 1,6; "REVIEW: ADVANCED LAST MINUTE CSSCGC SIMULATOR"
leespoons finishes off the year with an entry that was certainly topical at the time.
AT 1,3; "REVIEW: JET SET WILLY V0.1"
Spud puts in a very late appearance in this year's competition, uncovering a very early prototype of this very famous game.
AT 1,1; "COMPETITION CLOSED"
The competition is now closed, however, there are two more reviews to come. The Results, and our End of Year Feature, also coming as soon as they're ready.
AT 12,31; "REVIEW: DIVIDE"
Anders ends the year on a vaguely intellectual note which is both well presented and strangely udderless at the same time.
AT 12,30; "REVIEW: SOCHI ADVANCED DOWNHILL TEA TRAY SIMULATOR"
Talk about leaving it a bit late - absinthe_boy presents an entry based on the Winter Olympics a mere 10 months after the fact! At least the delay wasn't on my side, this time.
AT 12,29; "REVIEW: HORACE GOES PEEING"
Horace has starred in a number of CSSCGC entries over the years, but it's great to see him back, even if it's not his finest hour. Cheers Lee!
AT 12,27; "REVIEW: PUDDING CHASE"
Season's Greetings and a Ho Ho Ho as R Tape serves up a festive treat topped with crap sauce.
AT 12,22; "REVIEW: BUMP UP THE NUMBERS (AND LETTERS)"
Ed Raven delivers his fourth and final CSSCGC entry in order to bump up the numbers (and letters.) Oh - I just got that!
AT 12,19; "REVIEW: HARRY THE BABY SAVES THE WORLD WITH HIS AMAZING WATER PISTOL"
Andrew Green returns with not only our 50th entry, but also one which will also likely take the prize for the longest title for a second time!
AT 12,15; "REVIEW: CARBON DATING SIMULATOR"
Chris Young's latest entry isn't written in Adobe Flash and doesn't feature big-breasted anime girls. It's just as crap as the real thing, though.
AT 12,9; "REVIEW: MR MONEY!"
Pete has been sitting on this game since 1989, narrowly missing out on SU's WGITW competition and, subsequently, no less than 18 CSSCGCs! I felt somewhat honoured... until I played it.
AT 12,1; "REVIEW: RUN FERRET"
MatGubbins makes a comeback with a game in which a rodent runs from the threat of "excessive stroking" and "coochie coos." Scary biscuits!
AT 11,21; "REVIEW: THE DISPLAY FILE OF SISYPHUS"
Adventures in Machine Code Part II...
AT 11,21; "REVIEW: INSIDE THE BOX"
Adventures in Machine Code Part I...
AT 11,13; "REVIEW: JUMP OFF A CLIFF SIMULATOR"
Ed Raven delivers our second WGITW remake. Cheers.
AT 11,1; "REVIEW: ULTIMATE ZX SPECTRUM GAMES DESIGNER"
Andrew Green steps up with another 'ultimate' entry. This time it's a Game Designer utility and so we'll soon be hearing claims like; "All you need is imagination," "Design your own games in minutes" and "Create stunning effect that up until now have only been able to professional software houses" once more.
AT 10,16; "REVIEW: DILLON'S CAP CAPER"
MatG is first through the door with a recreation of one of the 1988 'Worst Game in the World!' contenders in "just a few hours of toil." Good man!
AT 10,13; "WGITW RESTORATION CHALLENGE"
Posted a new challenge in Misc; "The Worst Game in the World: Restoration Challenge."
AT 10,4; "REVIEW: TRAPPED!"
Ed Raven comes in for a second attempt at not winning with this years second text adventure. Wait a second... Spooky!
AT 9,25; "REVIEW: CRAP, TAPIR, SLIPPERS"
One-man crap factory; R Tape cobbles together a special Cack Edition of a potentially more ambitious project. I'm torn as to whether this counts as free advertising?
AT 9,17; "REVIEW: WILD WEST SPECDRAW!"
Ye-Ha Spec-Chums! R Tape is back with the roughest, toughest, rootinest, shootinest keystroke timer in the wild, wild west!
AT 9,7; "FEATURE: THE WORST GAME IN THE WORLD!"
While researching logos, typefaces and layout styles for Pgyuri's review I came across a 26-year-old compo from Sinclair User which tickled me at the time, but that I had completely forgotten about! Get ready for some Twilight-zone-like parallels!
AT 8,24; "REVIEW: ALL-KEY-TESTER/PRESSER"
The All-Key-Presser hardware (and companion Tester software) is, I think, just a bit special. It's probably taken me a week longer than it should have so apologies for that, however, here is the review.
AT 8,13; "REVIEW: BRAD: THE GAME"
Brad: The Game is a faithful conversion of a massive online game of the same name and one of the few 128K-only games in the competition. Not, however, for any of the good reasons you might have hoped.
AT 8,11; "REVIEW: SOKOMATH!"
#7 from R Tape is an implementation of the classic puzzler Sokoban which, although programmed entirely in BASIC, is accurate and responsive. Has he accidentally sent it to the wrong competition address?
AT 7,26; "REVIEW: SH*TE CYCLES"
Incredibly Ed Raven claims to have binned the first version of this entry; "1-D Light Cycles" becaused it wasn't good enough! He then went on to produce this pile of (Garbage - Ed) which begs the question; how bad was the first one?
AT 7,9; "REVIEW: BATTLE COWS"
Anders Carlsson returns for a 4th cow-themed entry - this time taking on the Turn-based Strategy genre.
AT 7,5; "REVIEW: BOB'S NEW KIDNEY"
Take three Crap Games authors into the shower? Not me! As far as I can tell the first ever CSSCGC collaboration on a WoS community-spirited game. Just awesome.
AT 7,4; "FEATURE: HALF WAY THERE - THE MID-YEAR REVIEW"
The good news is that I've managed to book a rock star to give us the low-down on the first half of this year's competition - the bad news is that only leaves 65p in the prize budget!?
AT 6,30; "REVIEW: ARTY PANTS"
R Tape produces a so called 'art package' called Arty Pants which is a bit like an Etch-a-Sketch with colour clash.
AT 6,25; "REVIEW: ULTIMATE HORSE RACING SIMULATOR"
Not a mere Advanced Simulator, but an Ultimate one? If you thought Andrew Green's inaugural Cricket-themed entry was slow-paced then prepare to have your expectations well and truly reset!
AT 6,15; "REVIEW: ZERO ASTEROIDS II"
MatGubbins' Zero trilogy spawns a sequel in which his minimalist take on the already minimalist Asteroids is reworked into an actual game!?
AT 6,10; "REVIEW: HAIKU"
catmeows delivers a kooky entry that definitely falls into the "and now for something completely different" camp.
AT 6,7; "REVIEW: ZERO BREAKOUT"
MatGubbins' Zero trilogy concludes with this minimalist take on the already minimalist Breakout.
AT 6,7; "REVIEW: ZERO ASTEROIDS"
MatGubbins' Zero trilogy continues his minimalist take on the already minimalist Asteroids.
AT 6,3; "REVIEW: ZERO INVADERS"
MatGubbins is back with his minimalist take on the already minimalist Space Invaders.
AT 5,27; "REVIEW: TOUCH THE RING"
After a 44 day drought R Tape brings us back to the table with this LoTR inspired reworking of the inaugural entry from last year's compo.
AT 4,15; "THE DEMAKES CHALLENGE"
Posted a new challenge in Misc; "Demakes."
AT 4,13; "REVIEW: ADVANCED LONDON MARATHON SIMULATOR CHALLENGE"
Finger on the pulse as usual; leespoons had this entry over in the early hours Friday morning. In an unusual move I've managed to get the review of this topical entry up in a relatively timely fashion!
AT 4,13; "REVIEW: SWIM B****** SWIM"
Yoshiatom hacks 1983's Run Baby Run using SGE and also manages to remove any trace of enjoyability. Incredible work!
AT 4,11; "REVIEW: SHADOW OF THE BEEF"
Before you get excited this isn't a remake of the famous Amiga game with a bovine theme! Side-scrolling cow on the run action is, instead, the order of the day.
AT 4,6; "REVIEW: YES DEAR"
Shopping for Homeware is second-only to a visit to the Garden Centre - in terms of things I least want to do with my weekends. Imagine my joy, then, when Paul 'Eq.' Collins submitted this game based on that exact theme. Luckily it's infinitely better than the real thing!
AT 4,3; "REVIEW: GERBIL SPACE PROGRAM"
Shoot a gerbil into space using shop-brought fireworks and some advice from the chaps in the pub - how could you fail? The Nobel Prize is all-but-yours!
AT 3,24; "REVIEW: HANGMAN FOR IDIOTS"
"The review should be up Thursday-ish" was my reply to Andrew after submitting "another classic" (his words - Ed.) Monday evening is Thursday-ish, isn't it?
AT 3,12; "REVIEW: GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP SIMULATOR"
Andrew Green hits a second 'Sixer' with another simulator - but this time in a completely different flavour.
AT 3,12; "REVIEW: ADVANCED PUTIN SIMULATOR"
We've received an entry that has the potential to literally explode into a political fireball - so much so the person submitting it hasn't provided their name and has had to go into Witness Protection! Yowsers!
AT 3,9; "REVIEW: ADVANCED DAVID MOYES SIMULATOR"
"Brilliant! A masterpiece! Ground breaking! Just a few of the things that won't be said about this game!" - Rebelstar Without a Cause
AT 3,7; "REVIEW: THE BLIND SPRITEMAKER"
And now for something completely different. R Tape presents his experiments with UDG genetical mutation. Run for your lives before they kill us all!!
AT 3,3; "REVIEW: FLAPPY BIRD(S): THE TEXT ADVENTURE"
Can anyone think of an example of the peculiar genre; "Arcade game reimagined as a text adventure" before the CSSCGC? In this entry leespoons takes on Flappy Bird.
AT 2,27; "REVIEW: TWISTER FOR TWO"
MatGubbins combines Currah Speech with Twister! Who knew!?
AT 2,23; "REVIEW: PIXBIT AND THE MAZE OF DEADLY MONSTERS"
R Tape returns showing off in ASM with some beautiful flashing attributes and an addictive game to boot!
AT 2,22; "REVIEW: CHOPPY BIRD"
Topical CSSCGC entry joke ruined by delayed review. That and the fact it's utter (Trite - Ed)
AT 2,20; "REVIEW: ROCKS"
Count the rocks with Dr.Sputnik. Not nearly as much fun as it sounds.
AT 2,11; "REVIEW: HOBOHEMIA"
School-boy errors all round as Steve McCrea accidentally enters another well presented and playable game.
AT 2,11; "REVIEW: QUEST FOR YE FLASK"
Yoshiatom gets back to BASICs (Groan - Ed) - will he get another steaming poo through the door?
AT 2,10; "THE ATTRIBUTE FLASH FX CHALLENGE"
Posted a new challenge in Misc; "Attribute Flash FX."
AT 2,9; "ZEN AND THE ART OF PAINT DRYING II?"
leespoons takes a satirical stab at recent Speccy-related controversies.
AT 2,6; "LET'S QUIZ!"
Steve McCrea again and this time he's quizzing us on Speccy Games. Anyone who doesn't get 36/36 is either a C64 user or not cheating hard enough!
AT 2,1; "REVENGE OF THE CRUDMEISTER"
Following his record-breaking run of 25 Carps last year Steve McCrea is back for more. Yikerama!
AT 1,26; "RSS FEED"
By popular demand I've now implemented a basic RSS feed of this news page. You lucky people.
AT 1,26; "JUMPMAN RETURNS"
The first submission not done in BASIC and our first Cassette Inlay; "Dongee Con" has arrived, but is it any good? Let's hope not!
AT 1,24; "R TAPE DOES IT AGAIN"
R Tape is back for a second entry entitled; "Another drink, Reverend?" Head on over to Submissions to find out what on earth he was thinking.
AT 1,22; "NUMBER TWO (F'NAR)"
The second review is up; "The Forest of Doom." Head on over to Submissions to check it out.
AT 1,22; "AND THEY'RE OFF!"
The first submissions hit my inbox last Friday and, after a bit of a delay due to a visit from the in-laws, the first review is up; "Advanced Cricket Simulator." Head on over to Submissions to check it out. More to come soon.
AT 1,14; "CSSCGC 2013 - THE LOSER'S STORY"
Posted a new feature in Misc; "CSSCGC 2013 - The Loser's Story."
AT 1,14; "SITE LAUNCHED"
The comp.sys.sinclair Crap Games Competition 2014 is now open!
